WHAT IS PUSH-TO-TALK?

PTT over IP is a service providing group communication like Two-Way Radio communication systems (TETRA, DMR and the classic analogue PMR).

  • Medium for that communication standard is an internet connection. Handset to server, server to other handset(s).

  • Thus, no separate infrastructure than public 2G/3G/4G and/or WiFi necessary.

  • Typical for PTT/Two-Way radio systems: “simplex mode”:

  • While one person is speaking to one/a group of other person/s, no one else can interrupt him until the speaker releases the PTT button.

  • Very short latency times nowadays: down to 100 ms in 4G network.

  • No range, channel or prticipation limitations
